About
Nakisa Dehpanah is an Iranian interdisciplinary artist and designer based in Seattle, WA, working at the intersection of art, architecture, and performance. She grew up in Iran and moved to the United States in 2016 to pursue master’s degrees in Architecture and Sustainable Environment. Her early years spent hiking and backpacking in the northern mountains of Iran nurtured a deep connection to nature, which continues to inform the material and conceptual layers of her work.
Nakisa’s practice explores the tension between the body and imposed structures—political, spatial, and cultural. Rooted in textile sculpture and performance, she creates forms that move, open, and transform. Through interaction, video, and narrative, her work reflects on how identity resists containment and continuously reshapes itself. Inspired by poetry, memory, and place, she examines themes of displacement, resistance, and the search for belonging.
Driven by a commitment to spark dialogue and inspire change, Nakisa uses form and movement as expressive tools to tell stories that challenge, connect, and heal.
